The Scholastic Book Fair is Over!
Thanks to all who participated in our Scholastic Book Fair this year. All proceeds benefit our school library media program.
PHMS Art Students Continue to Gain Recognition and Awards
The artwork of twenty PHMS students was exhibited at the countywide middle school juried art show at Patapsco High School. Special congratulations to four of our eighth graders who received special recognition at this show. Tyjae Little won third place Overall Best in Show; Thanh Truc Nguyen was recognized with a second place award in the Sculpture category; Christina Zhang received a second place award in the Painting category; and Madison Darrell received an honorable mention for her work.
Tyjae Little also created a watercolor painting entitled "What Makes Me Happy is Art," which is now on display in Annapolis as part of the "Celebrating Through Art: The First Lady's Youth Art Display" contest. For this participation, Tyjae received a certificate from Mrs. Hogan on May 2nd, and her painting will remain on display from May 1-7 at the Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis. Eighth grader Thinzar Htwe also received an award from Mrs. Hogan on May 2nd at this event. congratulations to Thinzar and Tyjae and all of our very talented art students!
PHMS Physical Education Department Sponsors "Hoops 4 Heart!"
All PHMS students were encouraged to consider joining in this fundraiser. Students received an envelope on Tuesday, March 15th and the campaign lasted through Monday, April 18th. On Tuesday, April 19th, a "3 on 3" Basketball Tournament took place related to this fundraiser after school in the school gymnasium. See PHMS physical education teachers for more details. AHA Website
PHMS Students Compete in 24 Math Challenge
On March 19th, PHMS sent a team of six "mathletes" to compete in this contest held at the Pikesville Doubletree Hilton. Gold medal finalists, Andrew Buckingham and Ady Yang, were among the prize winners. See additional details here.
PHMS Students Receive Reflections Awards from the PTA Council at the County and State Levels
Breaking News! Joshua Jeffers-Williams' entry won first place in the Special Artist/Outstanding Interpretation of Theme category in the Maryland state competition and will now move on to the National PTA Reflections competition. This was the ONLY Baltimore County entry to move on to the national competition! Congratulations to Joshua!
Congratulations to our four PHMS students who received awards in the Baltimore County level of the PTA Council Reflections visual arts competition. Both Kara Kaskel (Hair of Imagination) and Joshua Jeffers-Williams (The Flying Fish in the Tree) received an Award of Excellence at the county level and moved on to the state competition. Additionally, both Christina Battaglia (A Slice of Heaven) and Hannah Smith (Balloons) received an Award of Merit. PHMS Students Compete in Johns Hopkins University "Tower Of Power in a Half Hour" Challenge

PHMSTeam Competes In Regional MATHCOUNTS Competition
On Saturday, February 6th, the ten members of the PHMS MATHCOUNTS participated in a Regional Competition at McDonough School. Perry Hall Middle is in the Baltimore/Chesapeake Chapter, which includes all public and private middle schools from Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Cecil County, Harford County, and Howard County. << more
