Engineering Club Takes First and Third Place at Annual Competition

Example of student hovercraft from competitionThis year's PHMS Engineering Club won first and third place in the annual Maryland State Hovercraft Challenge on April 22nd at Morgan State University.  

To participate, students in teams from across Maryland designed and constructed model hovercraft vehicles.  The challenge included other required items for judging, such as a written report, an oral report, design and fabrication, and performance of the model hovercraft vehicle.

PHMS had six teams participating.  Team MMAD, Inc., consisting of team members Michael Nwosu, Matthew Olaoye, Darryl France, and Aneesh Singh, took first place at the competition.  Team SteamPunks, with team members Evan Straub and Quinn Chisholm, took third place.

Mr. Tedeschi, PHMS Technology Education teacher, is the club's sponsor.
